Overview of network status and review of events from each machine is
presented through a web front-end.
Application Monitoring
Kudos Observer ensures better stability for remote kiosks by providing
building blocks that monitor availability of a back-end system and react by
sending an event to Kudos Observer.
Grouping
Nested groups can be created with unlimited depth to easily manage remote
terminals in a hierarchal tree organization. Searches based on attributes,
configurations, location, or names or terminals can be saved, allowing for
dynamic grouping for terminals.
Windows Event Log
A specialized component constantly monitors the Windows Event Log on each
remote kiosk and notifies Kudos Observer if the operating system or any other
application writes events or errors occur.
Crash Detection
Kudos Runtime detects and handles crashes by restarting the process, with
notification of the event and result to Kudos Observer when activated on the
client machine.
Memory Monitoring
When the application involved exceeds its memory allocation threshold, it
will shutdown and restart with the event being reported to Kudos Observer.
Network Monitoring
The network monitoring capabilities 'pings' each remote terminal on a
specified interval, ensuring 24/7 operation and providing an overview of
network status.

Screenshot
Based on any event sent from the remote terminal, Kudos Observer can be
configured to take screenshots and send them to the server.
Remote Reboot
Based on any event sent, terminals can be automatically rebooted remotely.
Emailing of Events
Email handlers enable any event to be emailed to the appropriate person.
Server-side Scripts
By using a script handler on the server, complex conditional reactions are
easily created. These scripts can validate the severity of the event, when it
last occurered, and actions that should be taken.
HTTP Communications
Kudos Observer uses the Kudos Enterprise transportation infrastructure to
send content to the remote terminals. This infrastructure utilizes the HTTP
protocol to send and receive messages between remote terminals.
Guaranteed Delivery
When Kudos Observer sends content down to remote terminals, the content is
installed before confirmation of successful installation is sent back to the
server. If a network connection is unavailable, all events are queued until the
system is live.
Dial-up Support
Remote kiosks may be configured as either 'true-push terminals' or
'smart-pull terminals'. When operating in true-push mode, the server initiates
a connection to the terminals when data is needed. In the smart-pull mode, ther
terminal itself always initiates communication between the itself and the
server. The smart-pull option is particularly useful in dialup scenarios when
the server doesn't know how or when to open a connection to the terminal.
Firewall Support
By using HTTP communications, Kudos does not require specialized ports in the
firewall, but uses the standard port 80.
